One of the many things I personally admire in SL is the creativity. How someone can take an idea and bring it to life in a virtual world. It always amazes me when I see a new design by creators such as Vero Modero or L&H how it depicts or imitates things in our real lives. As an “old head” in SecondLife I am always fascinated to seek out new and unique creations and many times I am completely surprised. That is one of the reasons the Lupus Fair is such an important event.
Sometime last year, Soror Shanina said, “for Lupus Month we are going to do this….” of course it had to be as realistic as SecondLife allowed. I wanted the bells and whistles. I wanted something that the residents would enjoy 24/7 and at that same time make sure our cause was not overshadowed.
With much deliberation and time The Lupus Fair was born…. 13 stores, 32 sponsors 4 Greek Organizations – A beach, cafe, shopping area, Greek Row and much more! Again, I am taken away by the creativity, patience and time it takes to brings such a big idea to reality. As we embark on our 5th year this fair is our milestone as it has set us on another plateau when you factor in our goals and mission as an organization. To celebrate and acknowledge Lupus on this scale takes much work. To do it with so much support from others is phenomenal. I couldn’t ask for a better group of woman as the ladies of Sigma Upsilon Nu, the sponsors that banded together for this great cause or the designers who went out of their way to create pieces specifically for Lupus Month and lastly the builders of this special SIM Soror Cuddles of Cuddles Cove and Soror Amethyst of Brightfield Virtual.
